# AWS launches CloudWatch Omni general availability with bank input on AI observability

Released last week, the observability platform includes free IDE tools but usage-based costs that may strain enterprise AI budgets, per 28 September 2026 filings.

Amazon Web Services made Amazon CloudWatch Omni generally available last week as the next generation of its CloudWatch observability platform.[^5]

Capital One participated in defining the product, according to Parvez Naqvi, the bank's managing vice president of cloud platform and resilience engineering. Naqvi stated the company helped shape the single AI-powered observability implementation built into Omni.[^3]

The IDE extension for CloudWatch Omni is provided at no cost. Customers are billed only for telemetry they send and store. Ingestion costs may exceed allocated AI budgets, as agent systems generate very high volumes of trace spans.[^4]

Enterprise customers are now adopting agentic AI while prioritising retention of data security, Oracle Cloud Engineering group vice president Johnnie Konstantas stated this week.[^1] Enterprise security teams are balancing automation, existing human operational practice and limits on autonomous decision making for live AI deployments.[^2]
