Three separate open source AI tools targeted at physical engineering and robotics workloads were published publicly between 4 and 6 November 2026.

On 6 November, researchers affiliated with XPENG, Peking University, The University of Hong Kong and partner institutions released GroundingPI. The model is a 4 billion parameter foundation model purpose built for Physical AI applications. Full paper text, model weights and source code were published under applicable open source licenses [^1].

In RoboCasa-GR1 simulation testing, robotic systems running GroundingPI achieved higher task success rates when trained on 50% of available demonstration data than comparison models trained on 75% of the same dataset [^2].

Also published 6 November was SynFit, an open source AI tool for multi-trait enzyme engineering. Developed by research teams at UC Santa Barbara and Georgia Tech, full source code and all experimental data for the tool have been released for public researcher use [^3][^4].

Google Research published v1.0 of the open source Coral Compiler on 4 November. Built on IREE/MLIR, the compiler natively supports JAX, PyTorch and TensorFlow models [^5].
